If US has New York, then we have Makati...
I was raised in the province, so the idea of living in a busy city seemed daunting to me at first. But when I started working in Makati, I fell in love with it. Yes, Makati is fast... and furious. But do not be blinded by the lights the adorn this small but fab city. It is not only a business hub, but a cultural hub as well. Ayala Museum remains to be a popular mecca for historical artifacts. Where else can you find a historical museum in the heart of a shopping district?
And that shopping district is one of the gems in Makati's crown. We're talking about Ayala Center, that houses the award-winning Greenbelt Mall. More than the high-end stores, Greenbelt is known for its unique architectural and landscape design that will leave you asking, "Is it a park?" "Is it a mall?" or "Is it a lush garden?" If you answered all of the above, you are correct.
And if you think Greenbelt is a marvel, then try walking along Ayala Avenue, considered as the Wall Street of Asia. Among its prime residents are the Philippine Stock Exchange and the 52-storey high PBCom Tower... the tallest building in the country. In fact, fifty of the tallest skycrapers in the Philippines are found in Makati. Therefore, it is safe to say that Makati towers above the rest... literally and figuratively!
