Downtown Switzerland
Zurich - also referred to as 'Downtown Switzerland'. The city with one of the best quality of life has indeed a lot to offer. Surrounded by wonderful Swiss mountains and having its own lake - the city shines of its beauty & elegancy.
Even though it is one of the most expensive cities of the world, you don't need to have a fortune to visit Zurich. A lot you can do by foot as the city is rather small and cleary laid-out.
Suggestion for a sunny day: a walk starting from Zurich's mainstation through the old town 'Niederdörfli', reaching the lake and having picknick there. ...or buying the best sausage 'Bratwurst' in the restaurant 'Vorderer Sternen'. Walking back to the centre (Zurich's mainstation), this time using Bahnhofstrasse - one of the most expensive streets of the world - having every and each fancy store you can imagine. You will pass by Paradeplatz and see where Swiss people make their money - banks such as Credit Suisse & UBS - breathtaking buildings.
Don't miss Zurich's most beautiful flea market at 'Helvetiaplatz'. ...the only one which is every Saturday - the whole year. ...and the unforgettable view from 'Top of Zurich', the town's landmark mountain 'Üetliberg'.
Check all the interesting museum's on a rainy day - such as the Kustmuseum (art museum) or the Landesmuseum (state museum). A coffee at 'Kaffi Schnaps' is very recommended. ...and having dinner at Switzerland's most famos vegetarian restaurant 'Hiltl'. Don't forget making reservation!!
Let Zurich enchant you - you will never regret it!
