As a student here i visited Piraeus for the first time 5 years ago.I got off the boat and went to my hotel till then nothing special. As I started exploring the areas nearby i discovered so many things..I started by the balcony of my hotel located in Kastella which has one of the best and breathtaking views, you can see the whole city and Athens too all lightened up..Then i strolled around i went down in mikrolimano which literally means small port, it has cafes and bars and restaurants all around next to the sea where little boats are placed and arrive now and then. The view here is also very nice because you can see the houses of Kastella climbing up the hill!As the days and years went by i discovered so many things that made me love Piraeus as my hometown.People here made me feel i had family (or families) their hospitality and generosity live you surprised. Then there is Peiraiki and Marina Zeas the best walk to relax, you start from Marina Zeas walking or running, buy a beverage from a local shop and end up in Peiraiki where it has the best fish in town next to the sea and you feel like all the lights of the city are only for you!The market and the shops are placed in the centre with very good prices and fashionable items. The Nautical museum of Greece is one of the best attractions as it has all the history of Greece's Marine and it is the biggest in Greece. Then there is the archaeological museum of Piraeus which depicts the history of the city.Last but not least i would recommend going to the Veakeio theatre for a concert which is built in the same way as ancient theatres were and listen to greek music after that a relaxing drink next to the theatre where little bars take palce will be the pick of the day!
