Miami is definitely the city of wide boulevards and avenues. Make sure to rent a car when visiting, because otherwise you won't be able to get around as you should. And what's better than cruising around in a cab...

I'd recommend you to visit South Beach, Fort Lauderdales and Key Biscayne. Especially Key Biscayne is a great place for a one day excursion, visiting the beach and the park.

You'll find plenty of hotels, downtown they're quite cheap while the prices go up close to the beach.
