Since I live in Athens I have the advantage of know and enjoy all the historical and not so known places, the city can offer you. During day and night Athens is a city, that never sleeps, you can find anything it pleases you and you can try many dfferent things. Movies, theatres, ancient sights, open markets, and of course the famous Greek cousine.
Most people think that except downtown nothing else will be interesting. You can take the metro and go upstate north in areas full of green and open fields and then in the other side of the city near by the open sea.
Overall living or visiting Athens is a lifetime experience and we Greeks are lucky to be citizens of the centre of hospitality and civilization.!
