The majority of tourists that come in Athens visit the region of Thissio, which is a very beautiful place, near Acropolis quite crowded and full of coffee shops. If you are at Thissio, don't just stay there...Find the station of the electric railways, jump in the train that has destination to Piraeus and stop at the next stop, that of Petralona. When you come out of the station, go east and start walking until you get tired. In Ano Petralona, you will find an old fashioned neighborhood, with small houses and little squares where people gather to drink coffee, to talk and to let their children play. If you have the courage, go as far as the Filopapou hill and explore the place. If you don't have the courage, just stop at one of the restaurants, that are on street Troon. The street has recently developed into a gastronomic haunt, where you can find a small french bistrot along with one of the older greek restaurants of the area. If you go there at summer, don't neglect to enjoy a nice film at “Zefiros” cinema, which was built in 1932.
