Museum with a difference

Visit Sir John Soanes' Museum in Lincoln Inn Fields, just off the Strand, London.

Free entry into a a fascinating building filled with artefacts from all over the world. Sr John redesigned the interior of the Georgian building. He died in 1837 and the museum is virtually how he left it. It contains a Picture Gallery that has the original paintings of the Rake's Progress by Hogarth. The whole building has stunning features with a maze of little rooms and corridors. Sir John used natural light to show his collections: using yellow/orange glass to give a Mediterrean light.
