My Miami
Why Miami?
Imagine you are wearing shorts and sandals, your skin is tan and your glass is filled with rum, juice, and a fresh cut pineapple on the rim. The sounds of the steel drum serenading you from afar. Beautiful women flock in scantily clad swimsuits. Are you on a summer cruise to the Bahamas? Nope you are in Miami in the dead of winter. To you it is vacation and a glimpse into a lifestyle one can only dream of. The kind of life where “you can’t possibly get anything done.” “I mean really how can anyone live on Vacation”… Quite well actually!
My name is Mike Mirto. I was born and raised in Miami as was my Father. Which makes me as rare as snow in Miami. How good is life in Miami, imagine if your tropical vacation came back with you on the plane to your hometown. You work on vacation, you’re surrounded by beauty, you have instant access to art, film, culture, festivals, sporting events, and it’s warm year round! Did I mention the entire city is on the water? The beach is at most a 30 min drive. Endless hotels and apartments can be found on the beach throughout the entire state. The best part of life here is unquestionably the ability to truly get away and forget your troubles on a daily basis. You don’t have to grind out winters, you don’t have to save up for you island getaway. You can have your cake and eat it too!
Diversity
To best explain what it means to live in Miami, it’s like living with an on-demand remote. You have instant access to all of the flavors of the world. The hardest part is choosing which one you want. The people are as diverse as it cuisine. Here is a typical example of a night out in Miami. On a Tuesday night I took out a French girl to a Peruvian restaurant in Coconut Grove, before heading to Lincoln road for salsa dancing at a Cuban nightclub. Followed by a sushi night cap at an all hour’s Japanese restaurant on Collins Ave. You can wine and dine with any culture you wish. Living in Miami gives you constant interaction with the EU, Latin America, Canada, the islands, and of course NY and Boston. Each brings with them their traditions and personality. Miami gives you a glimpse into the World. Miami is a preview into tomorrow’s America.
Entertainment
From fashion to food trucks and everything in between, Miami is a town that always has something going on. Miami sports fans are often ridiculed for being fair weather fans; well truth is in a town with endless options there simply may be better options. That is unless you make the playoffs then you’re the hottest ticket in town. It is a town for all ages. It has zoos, parks, museums, art exhibits, and of course the beach. Not to mention the Super Bowl and NCAA National Title Games, which have become staples of Miami.
The Beach
I would be remiss if I didn’t include the beach in my selling point for Miami. It is the timeless image the world has of this city. With all of the endless entertainment that Miami has to offer, there is no better option than having Miami Beach in your own back yard. The beach is not limited to the land. Boater’s paradise awaits you. Deep sea fishing, jet ski’s, charter boats, parasailing. And of course private island parties abound. The ocean is the heartbeat of Miami. Fresh fish abound at local restaurants. Most of which are located right on the water itself. Did I mention were open 365 days a year?
Miami has character; it is a city that truly represents its people. We are proud, outgoing, and confidently laid back. We are a beach town with glamorous guests. Whether Latin, European, or transplant American, we can all agree on one thing Life is just better here. On any given day you can get away on vacation and believe me nobody living here takes that for granted. I have never seen a city where more people miss their flights home than Miami. Miami is warm, vibrant, and full of life. Miami is my city, my home!
