Athens is my hometown. It is the capital of Greece and just about half of the population (5mil) of the country lives here. It is a city that experiences warm weather most of the year. Greece has a lot of history and so does Athens too and someone can find out about this history by visiting numerous museums and ofcourse by visiting the famous "Acropolis". Everything someone needs can be found here, a lot of restaurants and a lot of night life until the early morning hours in the large variety of bars and clubs located mostly in the centrer of Athens, at areas like Plaka,Monastiraki, Gazi, Kolonaki and Exarhia. Alongside the south suburbs of Athens, at places like Voula, Glyfada, Vouliagnmeni and Varkiza you can find a lot of clean beaches if you want to relax or go for a swim. The public transport is not the best aspect af the city and it can get frustrating waiting for the bus that is not on time, or being stuck in traffic forever! However the metro, eventhough its not very expanded yet, it offers a high quality service and is relatively newly built and is a wiser choice. If you ever decide to visit Athens don't forget to taste the famous souvlaki around the monastiraki train station!
