  A review of Dragon's cave

The locals call it in Greek “I spilia tou drakou” and it is definitely worth seeing when visiting the beautiful Kastoria city.

Coming from Kastoria I had grown up with the dragon’s cave legend. I must have thought back then that a real dragon lived there! Growing older I have learned that it was the entrance of a beautiful stalagmite and stalactite complex expanding underneath the mountain Kastoria is built on. The cave was never open to the public until recently when most of the work has finished and it was safe for everyone to enter. Before I visited I though that it would be a simple small place with little things to see. I was presently surprised when I realized how much work has been done and how big the areas explored were. Our tour guide took us though different rooms with beautiful stalagmites emerging from clear lake waters full of different colours. The same guide told us that there were more rooms explored but I assume that we will need to wait a couple of years before we are able to see them.
