Introduction Edit
More than 7,000 islands, islets and reefs make up the Caribbean, which is situated north of South America and southeast of North America. Well, they are not top destinations without a reason. From the colorful Havana to the white sand beaches and from the “once in a lifetime” experience of snorkeling in the Caribbean Sea to the Rastafarian dances in Jamaica, the Caribbean islands are worth visiting. Don’t make the mistake of locating your dream beach and stay there for the rest of your stay; all the islands have a rich historical and cultural background. The music is of course important (Bob Marley and Buena Vista Social Club are only two of the artists you should put in your IPod), it helped people get through the pirates, the slavery, the poverty and the colonial period.

The Caribbean Islands are also called West Indies, because when Columbus reached the area in 1492 he thought he was at the west of The India?
Records Edit
The Cayman Islands hold an unpleasant record: they have been affected by hurricanes more than any other region in the Atlantic, as a hurricane hits in the area every 2.23 years.
