Getting there

By train

The Metrotren from Estación Central in Santiago costs $1300 CLP one-way. Trains from the capital depart every 30 minutes. Departures from Rancagua can take you back north towards Santiago or south towards San Fernando. Prices vary according to destinationhttp://www.efe.cl/html/transporte/metrotren.php.

By car

Rancagua is 90 km from Santiago by the Ruta 5. Two road tolls are found between the cities ($2000 CLP Total).

By bus

From Santiago, the main bus terminal is located at Metro Station Universidad de Santiago. Competition among the private bus companies makes for very frequent departures to Rancagua. Cost is about $800 CLP.

Warnings

Beware of pickpockets and gypsies in the city center.
