A small town but bustling town hugging a vast lagoon, Richards bay has many places a would-be traveler might find himself enjoying.
There is Alkandstrand, The Public beach. For surfing enthusiasts, this stretch of coastline is one of the best kept secrets in South Africa, with glowing green waves rolling in glossy sheets of the finest surfing you will experience, parrallel to spots like Bali and Australia.
There are various reefs that lurk in and around the beautiful bay around which the town is situated where you can go see a variety of colorful sealife. Suitable for fishing and diving enthusiasts alike.
There are various nature reserves in and around the town, sporting all sorts of african wildlife, for the Zebra's, Lions and Leopards at Ensileni to the giant nile crocodiles at the Crocodile sanctury, a reserve built atop a swamp so you can see the monsters in their natural habitat.
The old harbour is a gem in itself with the night lights of the restuarants and bars twinling on the water, while the old tugboats silently float on the jetty's
And finally the large Mhlathuzem lake splits the town. Breathtaking sunsets and cries of fish eagles acompany the traveler who visits this magical place.
